My new website … at last

dripping-tap-150I’m sure you are all familiar with the old saying that a plumber never gets around to fixing his own dripping tap, well the same goes for web designers (and probably most other businesses I guess).

A new website has been on my to-do list for a long time, in fact I started designing it more than 2 years ago but was not quite happy with it so it never went live and I kept going back and tweaking things but still never got to the point of making it live.

Well, technology, and the web especially, are in a constant state of flux and are continually changing, in fact it is quite difficult to keep up with all the changes and advances in the industry.

Anyway, I recently allocated some time to spend working “on” my business rather than “in” it and started developing another new site, scrapping the half finished one and bringing it right up to date to the latest standards and with a new content management system to make it easier to maintain and add new content. I also included more automated background functions to cut down the manual processes and also made it responsive to make it compatible with the new platforms (mobile phones, tablets etc) that we have to support these days (see my recent article “So what is “Responsive Web Design” (RWD) ?” if you are not sure what that is all about).

So, my new site went live about a week or so ago and I have been testing it since and doing a few more tweaks to it and am pretty happy with the result. I have more to do to it yet but the main site is live and working.

Hey, and guess what, I’ve just had a new kitchen and bathroom fitted in my house so my taps don’t drip either ! :o)

I’m always keen to get feedback so if you have any comments on my new site or you think something is missing, please let me know.
